Jon Briggs, a Man Behind Siri Voice
Apple have been keeping from iPhone users, of whom the voice behind Siri a sound application such as personal assistant. Now the figure is reversed Siri voice speaking for the first time. The company is simply calling it a ‘personal assistant to the humble’. Actually, Siri has a version of the name in England as Daniel, but his real name is Jon Briggs.
Siri story begins long before Apple CEO Tim Cook announced last month. Personal assistant that allows users to talk to him, like ‘Please send a message’ and ‘We do not even know each other well’, has recorded six years ago. Jon Briggs is a former technology journalist, who change lanes to the work of voice. Initially he recorded Daniel/Siri Voice for Scanfost, then joined with Nuance, a company working with Apple for Siri. That said, Apple asked Briggs to not talk about Siri. “We’re not about one person,” said Apple in Briggs, as quoted by Telegraph, Friday (11/11/2011).
But because Jon Briggs has never had a contract with Apple, they do not call back. “I did a recording with Scansoft five or six years ago, for the service text-to-speech,” said Briggs. He revealed record five thousand sentences for three weeks, specifically spoken in a monotone. The sound has been used by various parties, such as the British Computer Association for the Blind and the station London’s King’s Cross.
“You are not allowed to license the sound to make money. So Siri voice at Apple is part of the service after you buy the phone,” said Briggs. Meanwhile, Briggs claimed to receive proper payment from Scansoft. “I love Apple products and I think Siri able to change the game,” said Briggs. Jon Briggs also said Siri voice could be replaced, “But the voice you think defines fantasize about someone, age, gender, educational background. So by changing Daniel will be more than a technological change,” he said.
